The introduction of market-based measures for the shipping sector, such as the European Union Emissions Trading System (ETS), is also discussed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Channoil: \u201cThe consensus for an effective carbon price for the maritime sector appears to be in the range of $ 100 to $ 150 per tonne of CO2e. We believe that a carbon price in the EU ETS is unlikely to move high enough to support the introduction of HVO or FAME at any significant level for marine use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"257\" src=\"https:\/\/cero2050.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/image-1024x257.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-30066\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cero2050.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/image-1024x257.png 1024w, https:\/\/cero2050.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/image-400x100.png 400w, https:\/\/cero2050.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/image-768x193.png 768w, https:\/\/cero2050.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/image-16x4.png 16w, https:\/\/cero2050.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/image.png 1032w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>This sector would require its own separate approach, as advocated by Trafigura. What this analysis shows us most clearly is that hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) and fatty acid methyl ester (FAME) are among the most expensive green fuels, which in the long term should restrict their use to sectors where they do not there is a viable alternative. Shipping is not one of these long-term sectors. &#039;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He also raises that: \u201cInvestors in an LNG fueling facility or dual fuel ship are likely to consider a 20-year time horizon.
