The Spanish energy company Repsol has announced that it has started the construction of a LNG bunkering terminal in the Port of Bilbao.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The facility, which represents an investment of more than 10 million euros, will be used to supply marine LNG to Brittany Ferries Salamanca and Santo\u00f1a gas vessels, which will start operating in 2022 and 2023 respectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Bilbao terminal will have a cryogenic tank with a storage capacity of 1,000 cubic meters, which will keep natural gas in a liquid state at -160\u00baC. In addition, Repsol affirms that the flexible design of the terminal will allow it to serve different vessels in the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Salamanca and Santo\u00f1a will also stop at the neighboring Port of Santander, which will have an LNG terminal of the same capacity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both terminals are co-financed by the European Commission through the CEF- Connecting Europe Facilities program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Spain currently has six operating LNG reception and storage plants distributed along its coastline from which the demand for this fuel can be supplied to the fleet of LNG ships.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
