See the interventions in the COP26 panel:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<div class=\"suki-oembed suki-oembed-video\" style=\"padding-top: 56.231%;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"COP26 Green Shipping Corridor Panel 2021 11 10\" width=\"1300\" height=\"731\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/u4-OvaCVbQw?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Next Wave Report: Green Corridors<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The statement thus supports the Getting to Zero coalition report,  <a href=\"#informe\"><strong>The Next Wave: Green Corridors<\/strong><\/a> , an intersectoral group of companies and organizations, has concluded that countries can take advantage of existing favorable conditions, such as an established export position, to develop these green corridors through specific regulations and financial incentives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted\">In 2020, the Getting to Zero Coalition - a partnership between the World Maritime Forum, Friends of Ocean Action, and the World Economic Forum - and the Energy Transition Commission outlined the business case for a commercial-scale zero-emissions pilot in <strong>The First Wave: A Blueprint for Zero- Emission Shipping<\/strong>. In 2021, it is already clear that ambitions need to be raised to more than just pilots<\/pre>\n\n\n\n<p>The new study,  <a href=\"#informe\"><strong>The Next Wave: Green Corridors<\/strong><\/a> , examines how green corridors - specific trade routes between major port hubs where zero-emission solutions are demonstrated and supported - can be conceived, prioritized and designed to accelerate the speed of the shipping transition<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>\u201cGreen corridors can help simplify the challenges of zero-emission shipping, bringing solutions to the water more quickly and at a meaningful scale. The maritime ecosystem is embarking on a journey towards a transformed, zero-emission maritime sector. The task ahead is complex, but not impossible \u00bb<\/p><cite>Johannah Christensen, Managing Director of the World Maritime Forum.<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>The study shows that green corridors can create favorable conditions to accelerate industry action and enable policy makers to create an enabling ecosystem with specific regulatory measures, financial incentives and safety standards. In these contexts, the mutually reinforcing actions that are needed by industry and policy makers to decarbonize shipping become easier, creating end-to-end solutions that can be replicated globally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>\u201cGreen corridors will allow us to move from ambition to action. However, there will continue to be a cost gap between fossil-based shipping and zero-emission shipping on the order of 25% to 65%. Specific government action to close that cost gap in the corridors could have great benefits for the overall transition.<\/p><cite>Faustine Delasalle, Co-CEO of the Mission Possible Partnership.<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>The Next Wave draws its conclusions based on studies of<strong> three runners <\/strong>different, after consulting with more than 30 companies throughout the value chain, including many that are active on the routes in question. Green corridors are trade routes where political support and industry collaboration could ensure that the benefits to first arrivals outweigh the costs and risks they are taking \u00bb <\/p><cite>Charis Plakantonaki, Chief Strategy Officer, Star Bulk Carriers Corp<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>In all green corridors, the success factors are probably similar: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Consensus <\/strong>at the corridor level on the <strong>Fuel pathways<\/strong><\/li><li>Political support to help <strong>closing the fuel cost gap<\/strong> higher cost zero emissions<\/li><li>Value chain initiatives to <strong>group demand. <\/strong><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Aligning with a corridor-specific decarbonization roadmap, based on these factors, could provide all stakeholders with the confidence to invest, coordinate, and deliver the scale solutions needed by 2030.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"informe\">The report &quot;The Next Wave: Green Corridors&quot; was produced at the initiative of the Motivating First Movers work stream of the Getting to Zero Coalition.
