En la actualidad se dispone de diferentes avances espec\u00edficos sobre las pilas de combustible, y se est\u00e1n evaluando investigaciones y proyectos piloto que han revelado un gran potencial para una mayor aplicaci\u00f3n a gran escala. El estudio de la Agencia Europea de Seguridad Mar\u00edtima (EMSA) sobre la utilizaci\u00f3n de pilas de combustible en el transporte mar\u00edtimo ha sido el resultado de la iniciativa de esta Agencia, con el acuerdo de la Comisi\u00f3n y en apoyo de los Estados miembros de la UE, un importante instrumento, desarrollado en estrecha colaboraci\u00f3n con DNV-GL<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<p><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.emsa.europa.eu\/emsa-homepage\/2-news-a-press-centre\/news\/2921-emsa-study-on-the-use-of-fuel-cells-in-shipping.html\" target=\"_blank\">EMSA 23\/01\/2017<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A pesar de la estrecha dependencia de la tecnolog\u00eda de las pilas de combustible y del desarrollo de soluciones de combustible de hidr\u00f3geno, hoy en d\u00eda existen diferentes soluciones que utilizan GNL, metanol y otros combustibles de bajo punto de inflamaci\u00f3n. La EMSA participa, en apoyo de la Comisi\u00f3n, en la segunda fase de desarrollo del C\u00f3digo del FGI, en la que se incluir\u00e1n disposiciones sobre pilas de combustible como una nueva parte del texto.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El estudio de la EMSA sobre el uso de las pilas de combustible en el transporte mar\u00edtimo incluye un examen tecnol\u00f3gico y reglamentario, en el que se identifican las lagunas que deben seguir explor\u00e1ndose, la selecci\u00f3n de las tecnolog\u00edas de pilas de combustible m\u00e1s prometedoras para el transporte mar\u00edtimo y, por \u00faltimo, una evaluaci\u00f3n gen\u00e9rica de la seguridad en la que las tecnolog\u00edas seleccionadas se eval\u00faan seg\u00fan los aspectos de riesgo y seguridad en las aplicaciones gen\u00e9ricas de dise\u00f1o de buques.
