As Baleària explained, the vessel has already carried out the first navigation tests, which are part of the final phase of the construction of the vessel. In this way, the shipping company estimates to incorporate at the beginning of July the new catamaran with dual gas engines that will connect Mallorca, Menorca and Barcelona all year round.

The boat has been prepared to also connect to the electrical grid during its stays in port

It is the second 'fast ferry' with dual natural gas engines in the world that is being built in the Armón shipyards of Gijón, as recalled by the company chaired by Adolfo Utor. This unit has involved an investment of 126 million euros and has capacity for 1,200 passengers and 450 vehicles, just like its twin 'Eleanor Roosevelt'. Now, unlike the first unit, the 'Margarita Salas' has greater power and improvements in the deck spaces. Like its predecessor, it is equipped with two azimuthal propellers to improve maneuverability when docking, a stabilization system that reduces movement and improves comfort, and technological innovations to minimize vibrations and noise, as Baleària has listed.
